Also people (often turning out to be WoW players) denouncing this games PvP as crap having played it a day or two in RA.

Although i do empathise with their opinion as i can imagine their experience during that time must be pretty bad.

Ah, White Sword.
He spent almost 10 minutes of that video chasing someone who obviously didn't want to PvP saying "run, run run!" and laughing to himself through a very boring, empty looking area of the world.

Then he switches to Guild Wars to his Elementalist in Ruins of Surmia and says "I can't show you PvP in Guild Wars because THERE IS NO PVP! I know it wasn't fair to show you all that fun in WoW first..." and then goes off on this thing about how just because you can't disrupt someone's questing to fight and then chase them for 10 minutes, and you can only PvP through structured, balanced arenas, that there is no PvP and that it "SUCKS."

Seriously?

EDIT: just watched that GW vs WoW customisation vid and it rly made me lol. the guy obviously doesnt realise how limited the choice is in WoW seeing as you are tied down by stats whereas in GW its all aesthetic

This isn't so much a bashing of Guild Wars. This is just a quote from some idiot in the Great Temple of Balthazar (I don't know what I was doing there with local chat on either) explaining why Aion will CLEARLY be better than Guild Wars in EVERY way.

In Jade Quarry this morning, the waits were very long and people were complaining, as usual. I mentioned that new artwork was up on guildwars2.com and they could pass the time looking at it. A player said, "I'm only playing GW until Diablo3 comes out." Makes me wonder how long he has been playing GW as people have been waiting for D3 as long as GW has been out.

(And I know it wasn't announced until 2008, but that doesn't mean people weren't waiting for it to appear.)

I tought GW had grown away far enough from wow to quit comparing the two. Even here it's been ages since we saw a wow/gw post.

Actually those could be defended by saying they mean the servers don't get heavy maintenance (how many did we have in the years? 2-3 that needed server shutdown? Would NC Soft prove more skilled than God-like Blizz?) and that the game is too small to attract gold sellers and/or the economy is pointless(note that the later isn't too far from the truth)

That being said... yeah they REALLY are downsides... /irony mode = off

Except most of Gw's patching and updates require merely a user restart due to the extremely efficient way Gw is programmed. Gw used to have gold sellers, but ArenaNet (unlike certain other developers) actually put a stop to it.

(On that note, I don't know what method they used recently to block it off, but I remember when they blocked the asians off for a few days and the gold selling disappeared completely.)

Haha, gotta love when Anet claimed that the currency in game was their property.

But in all honesty, WoW does have some redeeming factors, but it's not enough to get me past the $15 a month (Yeah I'm a cheap-skate). GW appeals to me more because you have the freedom to do whatever you want. You really are only tied down to your primary attribute. I like that I can go from doing a storyline mission, to go strait into PvP if I want. It's appealing to me to have that lower level cap because I'm not as hardcore into grinding as other people. I like the fact that there are premium sets of armor, but add no additional gain to the average joe who can't afford those higher nicer sets (Although I still try to get them).

I also lol'd at that guy's video comparisons of WoW vs GW. You honestly can't compare the two by playing one game for a long period of time and only playing the other one for like a week. You have to give each game the equal amount of time and dedication to truely compare them.

"Augh, why does everything take so long to load?!" (admittedly, he had just dl'ed it... but mainly he just didn't like loading screens)

"There are too many character customisation options! This is always the worst part of the game for me." (admittedly, he's colorblind, so he's always worried when he makes a character that it'll be a complete fashion victim, but still)

"Augh, it's so weird not being able to jump! You are going to feel so much freer in WoW when you can jump and go everywhere..."

I think he also complained about the skills and what have you but I can't remember that.

Haha a couple of my friends from school play WoW and I found out one of them had GW as well, but he told me he never played anymore.
Me: Why did you stop playing?
Him: I got to level 20 and ran out of stuff to do.
Me: Did you finish the story line?
Him: uh...
Me: Did you finish the missions?
Him: uhh...just the ones on the island.
Me: /facepalm.

I guess he didn't understand the concept of "there's more to do in a game than getting to the next level" =/
